I don't care for the flavor of the BIG yellow corn kernels when ground into cornmeal.  Something about the flavor is just not to my liking.

Can I grind popcorn in my WhisperMill?

Yes, that's what I usually use. Also, the white has a milder flavor than the yellow.

Thank you - I don't know where I got the idea 12 years ago when I started with the grain mill that I could only use the special BIG corn in the mill.   Glad to have that cleared up.

I'll try popcorn next time I make cornbread and see how that goes.  If not, then I'll try the white corn after that.

Popcorn is the best corn in the world for baking. Grind it in the mill and use it like corn meal, or corn flour. It has a wonderful sweet, nutty flavor. And it makes THE best corn mush (a hot cereal that I am particularly fond of).

For some reason, the large kernal corn has a midly sour aftertaste that I also find unappealing. And the flavor persists in the baked goods, so I use popcorn in my kitchen exclusively. Besides, then you only have to store one kind of corn.
