Here is what Sue Becker had to say about rapadura:
It is my understanding that rapadura and sucanat are the same. Some
claim that rapadura is the original product. It was sold and the
processing was changed. After speaking with Quality Control on the
processing of sucanat I am not convinced that it is different from
rapadura. I believe they are the same type of product just different
brand names.
Rapidura and Succanat are both just different brand names for the same product. They are both dried cane-juice. Both Succanat, and Rapidura are refined sugars. The only advantage of them over normal table sugar is that they are not bleached with chemicals, and they taste much better.
