Does anyone have any experience with the Kitchen Aid grain mill attachment.  I am new to the whole "make my own bread" idea and do want to start doing so for our health and well-being.

I already own a KA stand mixer and so am leaning toward buying the mill attchmnt to save cost and equip. storage space.

Also, in my online searching I came across a supplier for the attachments who actually recommends a Messerschmidt mill attchmnt www dot everythingkitchens dot com

Here is their description:
This Grain Mill Attachment for use w/ Kitchen Aid Mixer is manufactured in Germany for 27 years by Messerschmidt. Built with premium Lexan and hardened surgical steel burrs. This is a durable grain mill capable of a lifetime of dependable use. Adjustable from fine to coarse. This Grain Mill Attachment is made by Messerschmidt, and will grind more finely than the Grain Mill Attachment made by KitchenAid. The grain mill will fit on your Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer with a twist of the wrist. The mill steel burrs grind low temperature frictionless milling, avoiding the heat created by most grain mills, giving a true grind. Heat can destroy many of the nutrient in your flour. A cup of fine flour is produced in approximately one minute with the KitchenAid Stand Mixer. Large 5 cup open hopper for continues grinding of grains. Dust Free and removes quickly for cleaning.

Anyway, any help and advice you can give will be greatly appreciated.  BTW, I would be doing mostly hard wheat grinding if that matters.  I'm such a rookie that I don't know if it does or not.
Now, off to read about the bread machines!  I am quite overwhlemed! :)

If you use your KitchenAid for mill wheat, it will eventually burn up your motor. Also, the KitchenAid grinder will not mill the flour as finely as a mill-only appliance. I would strongly recommend getting a good mill such as Wonder Mill or Nutrimill. They will give you a powdery flour. A WonderMill will also mill flour very quickly. The KitchenAid mill is v-e-r-y slow.

It doesn't matter what kind of wheat or grain you are milling, you can use a standard mill like the WonderMill etc. But you cannot put nuts or seeds in your mill. Those are too oily for a mill and will clog it up.

The Bread Beckers have those available... here are links: http://www.breadbeckers.com/wondermill.htm

Thanks very much for the input, I did wonder if the motor would be effected by the increased work load.

Thanks, Jennifer
